So I teach at a middle school- and let’s just talk about how funny (and by funny I mean awkward) 12 and 13 year olds are on Valentine’s Day. I was cracking up all day. They are so serious about who they give their Valentine’s to. Heaven forbid they give a valentine to someone weird. We also had a Valentine’s party/dance combined with all of the 6th-8th grades, and I couldn’t help but laugh at the awkward, pubescent vibe that filled the gym. And of course no one was dancing. That would just be embarrassing. *Sigh….* I wish I could have recorded a clip to share with you all- but I’m sure you have your own awkward middle school memories flooding back to you right now… those will have to suffice!
On a side note, the school I work at has a dress code (c’mon, really?? You’re cramping my style…) so I also have to dress rather conservatively for work. This isn’t the most ideal situation for a wannabe fashionista like myself, but I do try and push the limits as much as I can with what I wear. I was a little nervous to wear this “lips” shirt to work (seeing as my school has an absolute no PDA rule as well) but I couldn’t resist. I ended up throwing a red sweater over it to help tone it down a little bit, just in case. I also love pattern mixing, so I wore my polka dot skirt and heart printed tights.
The outfit was a smash with my fellow V-day supporters. One of the teachers, who wears all black every Valentine’s day in rebellion, absolutely hated my outfit. I took that as a compliment. Must be doing something right! Haha. Are you a Valentine’s Day lover or hater? For me, I’m pretty neutral about the holiday. I don’t hate it or love it. But if I have an excuse to dress up, you know I’ll take it! On that note… Here is my look!
